Message2you offers friends and family an easy way to send electronic messages to Hydebank Wood Prison and YOC.

To send a message you need to Register , create an account, search for a young offender, buy credits, compose and send your message.

Your message will be sent to a secure kiosk and your loved one can read and reply to your message.

How does my friend in Cedar House reply to my electronic message?


Residents of Hydebank Wood Prison and YOC will be able to receive your message via a secure kiosk and reply to them electronically. You will therefore be able to receive as well as send messages via this website.

What do I do if I want to communicate with a friend but cannot find their name?


There may be several reasons for this, including:
  • Mistyping of name or inmate number when searching for recipient – please confirm these are accurate.
  • Your friend may not be housed in Young Offenders Centre - Register today to receive further updates about other locations as they become available.
  • The young offender may not be registered to take part in the Message2you pilot - why not ask your friend to sign up to Message2you. They simply need to contact an officer if they wish to sign up.

How secure is Message2you?


There is a secure sign in for registering on the Message2you website using an unique username and password. It is important for users to keep their username and password private to ensure the utmost security.

All messages from Message2you are sent between internal and external servers using secure encrypted methods on a scheduled basis.

Security is of utmost importance therefore we have ensured that:
  • Standard email methods such as SMTP are not used.
  • There are no open ports required on the prison side of the network.
  • No attachments can be sent or received.

How long will it take for offenders to receive my message?


Messages sent via Message2you will be received by the prison within a matter of minutes. The time taken for message to arrive with your friend or family member will depend on the prisons’ internal process for censoring and printing messages.
